Act Today: Tell Your Member of Congress to Add "Ticket Agents” to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee (ACPAC)

Established in 2012, the Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee (ACPAC) advises the secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation on how to improve air travel for consumers. However, this committee has only four members to represent nearly 700 million annual airline passengers. The airlines have a slot, as do consumer groups, airport authorities, and state and local governments.

Ticket Agents, which include online ticket agents, travel management companies, global distribution systems, and individual travel advisors, have never been a part of ACPAC, even though they sell 50% of all airline tickets to consumers every year.

Congresswoman Dina Titus (D, NV-01) and Congressman Gus Bilirakis (R, FL-12), chairs of the House Travel & Tourism Caucus, along with Rep. Marc Molinaro (R, NY-19), Rep. John Garamendi (D, CA-08), and Rep. Julia Brownley (D, CA-26), introduced H.R. 3780, the ACPAC Modernization Act to add “Ticket Agents” to this important advisory committee.

Congress will soon consider legislation to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration. With support from you and your colleagues, the ACPAC Modernization Act can be added to this larger, must-pass bill, but we must act fast. Email your members of Congress using this form to encourage them to co-sponsor the ACPAC Modernization Act as soon as possible!
